atmos and ASICS Sport Style dress the GEL LYTE III OG in Subway maps, to introduce the “NYC SUBWAY”.

The GEL-LYTE III was created by Shigeyuki Mitsui in 1990 and is still loved by many sneaker fans as an icon model of ASICS.

The center split tongue does not only create comfort for a wide variety of people with foot shapes of all sorts and sizes, but it also makes it easy to slip on and off your feet.

The public transit train systems of each respective city is translated in Google Maps-esque fashion across the entire smooth leather uppers of each variation. The pair dedicated to the “City That Never Sleeps” features slight contrasting through the medial side’s tiger stripes which are colored in gray.

Following of the release of the GEL-LYTE III “World Map” in 2018, atmos adopted official map data provided by Tokyo Cart Graphic, which is based in Ogikubo, Tokyo, and put the letters “NYC” on the tongue on the left shoe. The tongue on the right foot is embroidered with the “Big Apple” symbolizing New York. Small but precise details have been included into these pieces of foot work, an example being the mini-Asics’s stipes located on the toe area of the shoe.
