ASICS X ATMOS X SNEAKER FREAKER GEL-LYTE III OG "ALLEY CATS"

After Sneaker Freaker’s collaboration with asics on the friends and family Gel-Lyte III OG, this year, it has team up with atmos for the release of the Gel-Lyte III OG “Alley Cats”.

As a tribute to the mini-boulevards that criss-cross the respective hometowns of Sneaker Freaker (Melbourne) and atmos (Tokyo), this ASICS GEL-LYTE III comes dressed in luxurious hairy cowhide, glow-in-the-dark stripes, and shades of purple, satin, and lime green.

The glow-in-the-dark stripes are an ode to cat eyes while the purple is a combination of Sneaker Freaker’s signature color red and atmos’ blue.

The spec sheet is fully loaded with matte aluminium eyelets, heel tabs branded with “Alley Cats” writing, custom footbeds, dual-branded tongue logos and glow-in-the-dark tiger stripes, while a rubberized latticework section has been added to the sidewalls and heel for a nod to the original GEL-LYTE III.

The “gritty” theme that inspired the latest three-way collaboration is also supported by the “toxic” touches on the outsole, with the alluded-to green not appearing elsewhere on the sneaker. The split-tongued design's spines have the text "SNEAKER FREAKER" debossed on them to complete the special version of this design.

To emphasise the colours of this shoe even more, you can switch out the laces for simple black laces or green and black rope laces. Glow-in-the-dark detailing will be shown at night.

The dual-branded debossing on the grey suede heels completes the sneaker.

To accompany the special colorway of the tongue-less 1990 silhouette, the brands came together for a Sneaker Freaker cover.

The collector features in Issue 47 offer wildly different perspectives. In Berlin, Julia Schoierer has assembled an impressive vault of vintage Nikes and 80s adidas hoops classics. Her analytical deconstruction of the real-life Tetris game in her apartment is an honest counterpoint to the image of ‘perfection’ often portrayed online.

On the other side of the world, Malcolm Hargrove is a man on a mission, snatching up every unconsummated catalogue gem he fiended over as a youngster in Mississippi. With a predilection for hitherto unloved DC, éS, iPath and Circa sneaks, his 400-strong fleet of millennium-era relics is suddenly back in vogue.

Taking you on a fast-paced trip through the HAL Studios x ASICS colab, a complete New Balance 550 history lesson, hand-made shoes by Goods and Services, Zhijun Wang’s sneaker masks, custom sneakers by North Carolina’s Color Me Fresh and 3-D bubble kicks. Even more importantly, Issue 47 is where Sneaker Freaker finally introduce their triple-header colab with atmos.
