A CLOSER LOOK: ASICS SPORTSTYLE UB1-S GEL-KAYANO 14

Kiko Kostadinov also announced that he will be taking on a role as the in-house Creative Director for the brand. The Bulgarian designer and his team will be working closely with the Asics in-house designers to develop the products within their Sports Style line. Both teams had created 10 different designs for both the mens and womens line, bringing about the Ethos of Kiko Kostadinov together with Asics Sports Style.

For this November, we’re excited to show the first sneaker from Kiko Kostadinov’s new ASICS line, the UB1-S GEL-Kayano 14.

The design of the sneaker gives a nod to the designer itself, coming in an iconic colorway that can be seen from his previous collaborations. The new line created by both parties is not a collaborative work, rather a significant partnership to the new line. As seen on the shoe itself, it’s marked with a special insignia to showcase the special project together.

“Strengthening ASICS ideas and contributing with visual direction for colour and material is the actual final product,” said Kostadinov himself on an Instagram post while announcing that he is part of this project.

As for the silhouette itself, the Gel Kayano-14 retains its essence, but with a quirky change of style. The toe cap appears more robust, with modified materials with synthetic leather and an elongated pull tab on the tongue.
