Titled The Brismo 2.0, the project represents the continued evolution of the partnership, establishing an ongoing creative dialogue between Brazil and Japan through design, material research, and cultural exchange.
Inspired by rice—a staple in both Brazilian and Japanese cultures—the concept symbolizes continuity and structure. Its grains are abstractly reflected in the design, representing how individual elements come together to form a cohesive whole.

The sneaker emphasizes texture and tactility, inviting interaction beyond just wear. Its upper combines layered materials, including a rice-inspired texture over mesh, linking culture and sensory experience. Embossed synthetic leather panels feature the ASICS spiral and Tomoe symbol, while a snakeskin-textured detail nods to the traditional Sanshin instrument. A silver heel with a pressable red semi-sphere adds a unique, interactive touch.

The development process also examined the interplay between surface and perception, taking cues from Japanese design principles. It places strong emphasis on material experience, highlighting texture and tactile interaction as key factors in shaping how the product is perceived. The textures featured on the Brismo 2.0 are designed as functional components of its visual language, rather than serving solely as decorative elements.

The color palette is inspired by a personal reference from Felipe Matayoshi—a collectible motorcycle from 2012—resulting in a striking red and white colorway. ASICS’ signature red is used as a key structural element, highlighted across select areas of the heel counter and outsole. The model retains its technical foundation with the GEL™ cushioning system, complemented by a bold red cage that enhances both performance and visual appeal, reinforcing the brand’s distinct Japanese identity.
