ThePatta x Nike Air Max 1is inspired by the authentic connection between theAmsterdam-based brandand theAir Max community. The latest collaboration draws from theoriginal Air Max 1silhouette and addsa twist through a new wave patternandmini Swoosh on the mudguard, while Patta’s logo appears on thetongueandsock liner.
The Wave films and sneaker embellishment are thematic references to the cultural shifts and enduring influence that Patta has had on its greater community and industry. As a black-owned, independent business based in Amsterdam for over 17 years, Patta has not only developed a following for its influence in street- and sportswear, but in seizing an opportunity to create spaces and empower young people through the Patta Running Team. Most recently, the Patta Foundation was founded to foster youth cultural education and aspiring entrepreneurs. It is through this spirit and union of purpose and product that the Patta x Nike relationship has evolved, and a new chapter is born.
The “Monarch” colorway features gray tone tight mesh upper bases accompanied by white leather overlays and reworked light brown nubuck mudguards. Accenting the Air Max 2 ‘94 mudguards are matching midfoot Swooshes and smaller Swoosh markings embroidered by the toe region. Rounding up the design of the shoe are colored eyelets, “Patta” tongue tags, printed insoles and Air-assisted off white midsoles paired with contrasting rubber outsoles.
