THE MYTH, THE LEGEND.

The black and gold colorway of the Air Jordan 1 made its very first appearance in 1985 but its origins continue to remain mysterious to this day. Some claim this to be the very first Friends & Family Air Jordan 1 with around 20 pairs in existence, all Made in Italy.

2003.

Jordan Brand paid tribute to the 1985 sample with a mid-cut variation in 2003. Just like the original, it features a patent leather upper, one of the brand’s first. However, it set itself apart from the original by means of a black midsole, gold contrast stitching and Jumpman logo on the tongue and heel.

2013.

The black and gold concept was revisited once more in 2013 and that released has ascended to grail status instantly. From the cut to the color placement, it was a worth remake of the mythical 1985 pair.

2020.

This year, Jordan Brand brings together elements from the 2003 & 2013 renditions for its latest celebration of The 1980’s classic. Covered in a glossy black and gold patent leather from heel to toe, this simple but elegant black and gold AJ1 is nothing short of a show-stopper. Gold stitching through a black midsole puts the finishing touch on a model that blurs the lines between formal attire and streetwear.
